Vision, Mission, Values

We pride ourselves on our partnership with our community, our way of doing business generally and the specific work that our members do each and every day. We are proud of our organizational culture and our mission statement (what we do everyday), our core values (which describe how we carry out our mission) and our vision (our aspirations for the future).

Our vision, mission and core values are not merely lofty words. Rather they are a living part of our organization; they are principles that guide our actions and decisions.

We are PEACE officers: Professionalism, Ethics, Accountability, Compassion, Excellence. These simple words epitomize the core values of Savannah-Chatham Metro Police. The term "core values" is used to publicly declare the underlying principles of conduct on which our actions are based; they are general principles or standards intended to guide organizational decisions, policies, and activities on a daily basis.

As trusted guardians of an empowered community, we work as leaders among those we serve to promote and pursue safety, harmony and well-being.

OUR MISSION:

To help create a safe and secure community through partnerships, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

OUR CORE VALUES:

Professionalism: a dedication to discipline, tenacity, trustworthiness
and continual learning.

We start with professionalism because it is the essential element, or the foundation, on which all other values are built.

Ethics: embracing the highest standard of integrity and
exemplary moral character.

It's being honest with others as well as with ourselves, and doing what's right at all times. Ethical actions and integrity remain the very bedrock of the police profession. Members of SCMPD will always do what's right, regardless of the circumstances. Officers will make no compromise in being honest in small things as well as large ones.

Accountability: a willingness and obligation to act upon what is right
and to be responsible for our actions.

We are accountable for our professional and personal behavior. We will be mindful of the privilege to serve our fellow citizens. We do what we say we are going to do and accept responsibility for our actions.

Compassion: focusing on the needs of others by striving to
empathize, understand and alleviate pain and
suffering.

We follow the Golden Rule “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We respect each other and we respect, and have compassion for, the community we proudly serve. Members show respect for one another regardless of rank and title and, when decisions are made, there's a thoughtful assessment of how each option may affect people. People are treated like adults who are professionals working in a world-class organization towards a common goal.

Excellence: we are compelled to be leaders and always do our
very best.
